Enjoying The New Year In RVA
Happy New Year to one and all! As usual Richmond has plenty of activities to keep you entertained on what will be the final few days off for many of you…
If you are among the many local fans of the popular PBS drama Downton Abbey, then Friday night’s preview at the recently restored Altria Theater is right up your “abbey”. Come dressed in period costume for a free screening of the new season at 7:30 pm, or join revelers for a reception at 5:30 pm with live jazz, cocktails and hors d’oeuvres for $50.
ChinaFest is a free family festival at VMFA on Saturday from 11-3. This event celebrating Chinese history and culture will include arts and crafts, Lego-making and animated films. Performances will feature traditional Chinese dance, martial arts demonstrations and Richmond Ballet’s In Motion Team XXL.
For those looking for more adult-oriented fun on Saturday, head out to Hardywood for the Rasberry Stout Release. The tasting room open at 2 and several area food truck favorites will be on hand. Live music begins at 5.
If you are still feeling festive, then don’t forget that this is the final weekend for both RVA on Ice and Stony Point Fashion Park ice skating! Another holiday favorite not to miss is the Garden Fest of Lights, open through January 12.
However you choose to spend the first weekend of 2015, have fun and be safe! Wishing you a healthy and prosperous year to come!
